Buco, Ferrer, Isip top HOM Series 2

JOEL Buco, JC Ferrer and Mark Isip led the second leg of the Hell of the Marianas Race Series in Marpi on Sunday.

Buco who lost to JC Libut by a second during the first leg on Sept. 30, clocked in at 1:07:10 putting up a one-minute gap from Libut who raced neck-and-neck with Nap Dizon in a longer race this time.

Dizon took the runner up with a 1:08:16 beating Libut who clocked in at 1:08:17.

Ferrer and Emily Northrop emerged from the horizon racing almost neck-and-neck as well, but the youngest female biker pulled ahead by five seconds to win the women’s category.

Ferrer clocked in at 1:14:07 to take the first place, Northrop, 1:14:12 for the second place and Ayano Braxton, 1:19:00 to settle for the third place.

In the mountain bike category, Isip maintained a comfortable gap on his way to the finish line to beat Rusty Valino and Ding Ramos.

Isip finished first with a 1:14:36; Valino who topped the Series 1 came second this time with a 1:16:36 and Ramos, 1:23:10 for the third place.

Age brackets

Shie Meng Huan who came fourth overall took the first place in the 40 below age group with a 1:08:18.

Arjay Noriega took the second place with a 1:12:54 and Ernie Henzon third, with 1:18:11.

Rio Jacob topped the 41 to 49 age group with a 1:13:02.

Bob Ferrer who kept pace behind his daughter, came second with a 1:14:08 and Ariel Garcia, third with 1:15:44.

Ceza Fortaleza led the 50 to 54 age group with a 1:12:21; Rolly Quihon, came second with a 1:19:34 and Nomer Mangalinao, third with a 1:23:09.

Willly Barbo topped the 55 above age group with a 1:15:24; Phil Gauang, second with a 1:21:18 and Danny Banez, third with a 1:30:35.

 In the women’s category, Zayra Ganacias clocked in at 1:34:38 to beat Vernice Ronda who made it in 1:37:21.

Boboy Aguilar did not have a lonely ride this time as Floro Derexes joined him in the 55 age group of mountain bike category.

Derexes clocked in at 1:27:22 to beat Aguilar who had it in 1:37:03.
