Fun and fury in All-Schools Cross Country finals

SCHOOL children from seven to 11 years old rampaged through the nine-hole Saipan Vegas Golf Course with everyone eager to win the title in their respective age group during the All-Schools Cross Country championship on Saturday.

Over 200 elementary, middle school and high school students from private and public schools raced on the two-kilometer grassy route.

The race raged on for the elementary students with boys from Saipan International School leading the seven-and-under and the nine-and-under age groups.

Finn Aitzer clocked in at 11:03 to win the gold medal in the boys seven-and-under; Oliver McCallion took the silver medal with an 11:52 and Agape Christian School’s Daniel Hwang got the bronze medal with a 12:42.

In the girls seven-and-under, Saipan Community School’s Allie Brauel clocked in at 11L56 to win the gold medal; SIS’ Maliya Benson won the silver medal with a 13:48 and SCS’ Elita Li, settled for the bronze medal with a 15:30.

Kelly McCallion who raced neck-and-neck to the finish line with an 11-and-under runner from William S. Reyes Elementary School, led the nine-and-under boys with an 8:51 for the gold medal.

SCS’ Daniel Malvs came second with a 10:22 and SIS’ Logan Benson won the bronze medal with an 11:03.

ACS’ Barbara Wang led the girls nine-and-under to win the gold medal with a 12:00; SIS’ Phoenix Gross won the silver medal with a 13:39 and WSR’s Erica Narruhn, the bronze medal with a 13:49.

WSR’s Paul Lizama, the boy McCallion raced with at the finish line, won the gold medal in the boys 11-and-under with a 8:51as well.

Koblerville Elementary School’s Christian Lucero won the silver medal with 8:52 and Mount Carmel School’s Kern Han Cao, the bronze medal with a 10:49.

MCS’s Andrei Chavez once again ruled the 11-and-under girls clocking in at 9:15.

Behind her was Brilliant Star School’s Fiona Regan who won the silver medal with a 9:57 and Sevita Sikkel, 10:12 for the bronze medal.
