When ACS first participated in the Saipan Marathon five years ago they only had six runners, this year a total of 46 participants joined in including two staff and one parent. Many of the participants this year are new students.

A total of 44 runners joined the 10k, while 20 joined the Half Marathon and 12 for the Full Marathon.

Students who topped their age group were 17-year old Chenxuan Yang and Iris He Zhang in the Full Marathon event. In the 10k event 15-year old Jie Qi and Meihui Ou topped their age division. And for the Half Marathon, Kristy Wang and Steve Qiu topped the 15 and 14-year old age division.

“Seeing my students crossed the finishing line gave me the greatest satisfaction last Saturday!” said ACS teacher Mrs. Jimeian Pang. “Running the marathon and completing it gives so much joy to my students. The sense of accomplishment when they completed the whole course is so valuable and unspeakable which money can’t buy but will remain in their hearts and memory forever. They prayed hard, they trained hard, they ran hard and they did it! I always tell them that life is like running a marathon: many people start out together, very often, they will find themselves running alone, sometimes they feel like quitting, sometimes they fall and develop self pity... No matter what, life has to continue just like they have to continue running no matter what. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. They have to take one step at a time until they reach the finishing line because I am there waiting for them. Same for life: keep going despite all difficulties and hardship because this won’t last forever, life will end one day and Jesus, our Lord and Savior, will be waiting for us in heaven to welcome us home.” She added.
