Loving Hands, DC topple opponents in Civic Basketball League

LOVING Hands has made their way up to the winners list after clipping a double digit victory over Far East 86-76 while DC continues to climb up the ladder of the 2019 Civic Basketball League after outscoring IT&E 82-50 during last Sunday’s games held at the Civic Center basketball court.

Loving Hands and Far East played as equals at the opening quarter as several shots were exchanged. Jun Tengco led Loving Hands with six points as his ability to put up a shot around the perimeter stayed effective. With the help of Ordong Tabora and Jun Javier’s three-point buckets and the rest of the team contributing shots of their own, they were able to hold their own.

Even with Loving Hands’ balanced game play, Far East matched up to their performance. Sahagun caught on fire early on sizzling eight points alone while Rueda supported with seven points to keep the game at a deadlock of 21-21.

However for the next two quarters, Loving Hands excelled offensively. Their ball movement was their biggest strength as they constantly opened up shot opportunities. James Kintz powered through the paint with six points with Jun Alipio, Villacrusis and Jun Tabora also making their way to the scoreboard taking the lead 42-37.

Far East’ Mortos stepped up and tried to take matters into his own hands at the third canto but could not do it alone as Loving Hands continued to deliver pushing a double digit gap.

Even with fatigue starting to show, Loving Hands had more than enough manpower to keep the momentum flowing. Villacrusis exploded at the final quarter putting up six more points while Kintz and Ocampo cleaned up the mess from beneath the rim to end the game by double digits 86-76.

DC is still one of the teams to beat as they nipped a 30+ blowout victory against IT&E 82-50.

It was their quickness and tough defense that kept DC in control as they outgunned and outran IT&E throughout the game. Matt Duenas showed his strength inside as his continuous drives led the team with 17 points total. He had the help needed as Jack Aranda could not miss at the third quarter with 12 points alongside Gerald Flores and Jaymark DeGuzman quickly disposing of IT&E 82-50.
