McDonald’s stun Little Legals for Major division title

MCDONALD’S has claimed this year’s Saipan Little League Baseball Major Division championship title after pounding pennant champs Little Legals 15-4 during last Sunday’s finale held at the Capital Hill Ballfield.

It was a fairly even match at first as both teams opened up at the first inning with runs.

At the top of the first inning Legals took advantage of the situation as McDonald’s pitcher Isaiah Mesa could not find his groove letting two runners fill the base off walks. It was Albert Adriano that broke the ice as third on bat as he connected a hit straight passed the pitcher’s mound where he earned an RBI bringing home Delos Santos for the first score of the day. Legals did not stop there as two more runs were added including Adriano before McDonald’s could stop the bleeding.

However McDonald’s bounced back at the bottom of the first as they exploded on the offensive end with five runs to snatch the lead.

Even after a rocky start with two outs already on the board, McDonald’s managed to make the most of the opportunity to deny the silence. Hit after hit they quickly filled the bases with MJ Tudela connecting the much-needed hit to bring home Joey Dela Cruz for their first run of the day. Casey Chambers then followed up with a single run off Legals’ error while Isaiah Mesa shared the spotlight with a single RBI and two more runs to grasp the 5-3 advantage.

Both teams played well leaving the second inning scoreless until Legals’ Adriano finally bagged his second run. However McDonald’s quickly shut down the run and answered back even harder with seven runs to maintain control. Nearly the entire roster nipped an RBI putting them in a comfortable 13-4 distance.

Even with McDonald’s silencing Legals for the remaining innings, they cooked up two more runs to end the championship match with a bang 15-4.

In the battle for third place it was a close game with Comets coming up victorious 9-8 over Falcons.
