THFC, KNFC triumph over Sidekicks Soccer Club in friendly match

DURING Guam’s Sidekick Soccer Club’s visit, TanHoldings Football Club and Kanoa Football Club came out victorious in two of three games of the U12 friendly matches that were held last Friday and Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

TanHoldings FC was the first to taste victory as they maintained the aggressive pace which was enough to defeat Sidekick Soccer Club by a distance 6-2.

Sidekicks tipped the scale early as they went for the kill as soon as the ball dropped. Just two minutes into the game the first goal was made as Aiyanna Duenas was left open handing her team control 1-0.

Instead of showing signs of frustration, THFC kept their heads up high and answered back just a minute later to even the score. Their ball movement kept several options open and it was Monico Claridades that finished the play sinking the shot to tie the game 1-1.

Both teams continued to bump heads with a handful of attempted shots but were left silent for the next 18 minutes. However at the midst of the battle THFC creating an opening where they were able to get the ball over Sidekicks defensive line finding Mark Costales for the quick strike giving THFC their first lead of the game 2-1 at the 21st minute.

Sidekicks tried to get even with continuous pressure but left the defensive end with no enough bodies to protect the break and ended up letting another goal slip by them with Costales connecting his second consecutive goal to end the first half 3-1.

Sidekick continued to struggle throughout the second half as THFC added three more goals.

This time it was Jonne Navarro that stole the spotlight as he completed the hat-trick with three straight goals at the 45th , 61st and 67th mark to secure the win early. Sidekick did not go down with a fight though as Duenas managed to sneak in one last goal at the 69th minute to soften the blow 6-2.

Kanoa FC shared a similar story as they handed Sidekicks their second loss 9-2.

KNFC had a dominant start firing six goals at the first half. Paul Lizama ignited the momentum blasting his first shot at the very first minute and followed up with his second goal just seven minutes later to hold the advantage.

Sidekicks’ David De Oro tried to disrupt KFNC’s run connecting a shot of his own at the 6th minute but could only make a dent. KNFC added four more goals made by Tyler Omelau, Izeah Jolo and Rigel Devey while one came off an error on Sidekicks’ end for the 6-2 spread.

Sidekicks were then left silenced during the second half while KNFC forced in three more to grasp the win 9-2.

Sidekicks did not end their visit empty handed luckily as they tasted one win against Shirley’s Football Club 4-3.

It seemed like SFC had the win in the palm of their hands as they brought in three goals while Sidekicks remained scoreless 3-0.

But the second half talk fired up Sidekicks’ momentum as they returned stronger than ever to snatch the lead. Goal after goal, David De Oro, Aiyanna Duenas, and Zachariah Calvo ruend the tables as they stepped up during crunch time making four consecutive goals while keeping SFC silenced to steal the win 4-3.

The last time Sidekick Soccer Club visited in 2017 with their U10 teams, they won three out of the four games and plan to make another visit in the next two years.
