Kanoa FC clinches 11v11 title

KANOA Football Club hava claimed the Dove Women’s League Spring 2019 11v11 championship title after outscoring Shirley’s Football Club 3-1 on last Sunday’s game held at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

KNFC gathered momentum early on as their aggressiveness and great ball movement opened up several shot opportunities. Their constant pressure gradually broke down SFC’s defensive line where they handed Irish Pagarao the go-ahead dribbling through and finishing the shot at the 10th minute to gain the lead 1-0.

KNFC held on for as long as they could disrupting plays by forcing the ball out of bounds with added defensive effort.

But as time progressed so did SFC.

Their relentlessness finally paid off at the 35th mark where they successfully made the overhead pass finding Katrina Costales open at the other end baiting KNFC’s goalie forward and sending the ball over her and touching the back of the net to even the score 1-1.

Despite SFC’s efforts KNFC retaliated quickly with precise ball movement slipping through gaps where Pagarao capitalized once more and finished strong with the quick shot to regain control 2-1 before ending the first half.

KNFC moved into the second half all pumped up as they kept the pressure going forcing SFC to focus on defense. Both teams gave it their all with close calls but in the end it was KNFC that held the advantage as their third goal was added at the 49th minute by Paulynn Joyce to secure the win 3-1.

Matansa Football Club grabbed the consolation prize as they were given the free win due to Paire Football Club forfeiting the match for the third place seat.
