Athletics update: Day 3

Team CNMI continues their journey in the athletics event of the 2019 Pacific Games held in Apia, Samoa.

Only two CNMI athletes’ names showed up on day 3 and it was Traven Quitugua and Beouch Ngirchongor. In the Men’s 200 Metre race Quitugua placed 24th with a time of 23.27 while colleague Ngirchongor followed behind at 29th clocking in at 25.58.

Samoa’s Jeremy Dodson took first place with a time of 21.07 with Ratu Tabakaucoro of Fiji right behind at a time of 21.20 and Shadrick Tansi of Papua New Guinea at third crossing the finish line at a time of 21.37.

New Caledonia currenly leads the medal count with 8 gold medals. Papua New Guinea sits right behind with 5, Fiji and Australia with 3,

Cook Islands and Tonga with 2 each, while Solomon Islands, Wallis and Futuna holds one gold medal.

In day 1 CNMI’s Tania Tan also made the list in the Women’s 5000 Metre finals ending at 9th place with a time of 21:56.63.
