Tsingtao Boyz topple IT&E Dark in OT

THE Tsingtao Boyz triumphed in an exciting overtime match against IT&E Dark thanks to Jandoc’s clutch shot that sank the game-winning bucket to seal the win 74-72 on Tuesday at the Civic Center basketball court.

It was a seesaw battle with several lead exchanges throughout the game.

At first the Tsingtao Boyz were in control as Gerald Rivera attacked the rim at will, putting up seven points, including an and-one highlight with Demonteverde sinking a triple for an 18-15 spread.

In the second quarter, IT&E Dark bounced back as Ivan De Vero, who delivered 10 points in the first quarter, brought in eight more, allowing his team to snatch the lead. IT&E Dark’s defense also helped by shutting down Rivera’s output and forcing Ariar to cover for his absence. But it was not enough and the Tsingtao Boyz fell behind, 27-30.

The Tsingtao Boyz regained momentum in the third quarter as Demonteverde acted as the sparkplug, connecting five consecutive points to fire up the rest of the team. However, they were unable to stop De Vero’s run who added five points while Joy Dayrit and Castro contributed shots of their own to push the gap even further, 51-43.

IT&E Dark seemed to have the win in the bag, but it suddenly lost touch in the final quarter as the Tsingtao Boyz found their second wind with Jandoc at the frontline. Shot after shot Jandoc carried his team back into the lead and on the verge of victory. But at the last second De Vero attacked the rim to draw the foul. He then drained the crucial shots from the free-throw line to force the game into overtime 66-66.

In OT, De Vero tried to secure the win for IT&E Dark but the Tsingtao Boyz had an answer for his every shot to keep the game even with Jandoc, once again, sinking the much-needed bucket to grab a two-point lead. IT&E Dark had one last chance as Reymark Castro used his speed to free himself for the layup but he missed the attempt and the subsequent free-throws that could have equalized the score. The Tsingtao Boyz won, 74-72.

Connie’s BBQ 80, Pardz Ballers 73

Connie’s BBQ notched its second straight victory over the Pardz Ballers, 80-73.

It was a close match at first as the Pardz Ballers banked on the consistent play of Jose, Rocyl Ritual and Josep Torres.

But as soon as Connie’s BBQ found its rhythm it never looked back.

The Pardz Ballers’ main scorers were nowhere to be seen in the second and third quarters while Cabang, Esmores and Camacho powered up Connie’s BBQ for a 10-point spread, 60-50.

The Pardz Ballers tried for one last push in the final quarter but they could not stop Connnie’s BBQ’s productivity.
