The Tsingtao Boyz were the first to go home with a win as they cooked up a rally in the second half to beat RNV Construction 79-68.

At first RNV Construction held control as teamwork played its part. Big man Andy Mortos was a strong presence inside the paint as he powered his way to 12 points in just the first quarter. Luckily for the Tsingtao Boyz, they managed to stay close behind thanks to Ariar’s three consecutive buckets, one coming from beyond the arc, to stay within a two-possession reach. The Tsingtao Boyz continued to fire back as Jandoc stepped up in the second canto with several shots but so did RNV Construction as Ryan Odicta and Rueda joined the fray to maintain control 39-36.

But as halftime approached, RNV Construction started to lose rhythm. In the third quarter, the Tsingtao Boyz took over.

Giron made his way to the scoreboard with Jandoc right by his side to grasp their very first lead of the night, 59-55.

Despite RNV Construction’s strong start, only Mortos could stay hot as his team fell further behind in the final quarter while Tsingtao Boyz Demonteverde and Jess Pineda combined for 11 points to secure victory, 79-68.

Mawati 68, IT&E Dark 48

Mawati was in control throughout its entire game against IT&E Dark.

Mawati found its range early as Ferrer heated up from the three-point line, finding the bottom three times in just the first quarter for a 18-13 lead. The lead continued to grow as IT&E Dark fell into a bottomless pit in the second quarter, scoring six points only while Mawati posted a 20-point lead.

In the third canto, only IT&E’s Ivan De Vero could penetrate through Mawati’s defense but it was not enough for a comeback. In the final quarter Michael Cabanas provided some help from beyond the arc with three straight triples while Duero finished the last few minutes strong. However, Mawati’s ever-growing lead was just too much, and the team won by a comfortable distance, 68-48.
