Bridge Capital edges DECM Wizard 7-6

DREW’S Bridge Capital was able to move up to 8th place before the conclusion of the regular season of the 2019 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League Thursday Division. Bridge Capital racked up enough wins over second-placer Brannon’s DECM Wizards, 7-6, on Thursday at Drew’s Bar & Grill.

But Bridge Capital did not have it easy as only Pat Cepeda came out victorious in the opening Singles 8-Ball match while Senen, Albert and Lito Pangilinan grabbed the remaining three rounds to take control. Bridge Capital then bounced back in the next Partners 8-Ball match with a 2-win sweep to even the score 3-3.

Both teams went head-to-head, splitting the next two matches and leaving it down to the final Partners 8-Ball match during which Pat Cepeda and Phil Kalen stepped up in a clutch moment to triumph, 7-6.

The Drew’s Titans were in a similar nail-biting match before defeating the Drew’s IT&E Homeboyz by a hair, 7-6. Both teams split each match until the very end. But only one team could come out victorious and it was the work of Shane Quitugua and Ray Matsunaga that pulled through as the Titans took down the Homeboyz to grab the win.

In the other matches, the VFW Assassins made the win-list as well, triumphing over 9Eleven Mellow Touch, 8-5; the 9Eleven Predators beat Sands Team SCS, 9-4; and the Drew’s MJD Warriors outlasted Brannnon’s, Grill 7-6.

The playoffs have started with Bridge Capital facing off against Club 88; Team SCS vs Marianas Water; DECM Wizards vs Titans; and the Predators vs the Homeboyz.
