TanHoldings, MP United notch soccer wins

THE TanHoldings Football Club and the MP United Football Club opened the Youth League Fall 2019 U18 Boys 11v11 Division by beating their respective opponents on Friday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.

THFC scored the first win of the season after gathering enough momentum in the second half to defeat the Matansa Football Club, 3-0.

It was a fairly even match as both teams exchanged blows right from the start with a few shot attempts added by each side. THFC, however, controlled most of the possessions thanks to its pressure on the defensive end that clogged nearly every hole and denied any breakthrough. THFC also turned each successful stop into an offensive attack. After over 15 minutes of endless scuffle, THFC finally created an opening for Jonathan Capayas who gave his team its first goal.

MFC managed to tighten up on the defensive end, leaving THFC no room to attack, but MFC failed to even the score and trailed 0-1 at the end of the first half.

Despite MFC’s efforts, it could not keep up with the rejuvenated THFC which scored two more goals at the start of the second half.

Joshua Waldo was quick on his feet, slithering his way deep inside enemy territory where he connected the second shot at the 30th mark to give THFC some room to breathe. The run did not stop there as Mark Esalan, who had countless shot attempts, finally made one just four minutes later to stretch the gap even further.

MFC tried its best to stay alive but had to bow down to THFC which won 3-0.

The MP United Football Club had a much more powerful performance against the Kanoa Football Club, winning 8-1.

MPU managed to find its rhythm early in the game as Floyd Muna drew first blood at the 13th minute followed by a second goal three minutes later courtesy of Skyler Poon for a 2-0 lead. Two more goals were added in the second half by Eun Syu Hahn and John Michael Rojas, establishing a comfortable 4-0 spread by the end of the first half.

KFC did break the silence at the 51st minute thanks to Markus Toves, but that was the team’s only highlight of the night as MPU put in four more goals to secure the win. Oliver Lee led the second half with two goals with Dylan Mister and Michael Rojas scoring one each to give MPU a whopping 8-1 win.
