Joeten 1 displayed its dominance as early as the first quarter en route to a blowout victory against Coca-Cola, 89-49.

Joeten’s speedster Kevin Kabriel stole the show in the opening quarter and carried his team with 13 points, including one from the three-point line. Joeten’s defense played a major part as well, barely giving Coca-Cola any room to breathe. Coca-Cola could only score five points while Joeten’s Alex Lauron and Chris Lilles joined in on the assault to extend their team’s lead, 20-4.

This allowed Joeten’s second stringers to taste the action with Ernest Duenas powering through the second canto with five consecutive points while Patrick Rotap, Kabriel and Lauron showcased their range with a triple each.

Coca-Cola’s inconsistency hobbled the team. Its biggest run came during the final quarter as Meljun Capalad stepped up, firing 11 points, but without help from its other players, Coca-Cola could not escape the inevitable defeat. Joeten 1 won by 40 points, 89-49.

Top Development Inc. 66, Joeten 2 57

Top Development Inc. took advantage of its early control to hold down Joeten 2.

Sean Robasto’s hot hand lit up the scoreboard with 12 points alone to give TDI a 22-13 spread. He continued to deliver in the second canto with eight more while Jerome Reyes and Darwin Barbo played their roles as inside defenders to deny Joeten 2 easy buckets. TDI at this point led by 20 points.

Joeten 2 finally got out of the cold spell during the final quarter when John Paul Cruz heated up. Three-point after three-point, Cruz tried to erase the deficit, but it was not enough. TDI won, 66-57.
