Team SCS advances to quarterfinals

SANDS Team SCS, the MJD Warriors and the 9Eleven Predators have made their way past the first round in the playoffs of the 2019 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League Thursday Division Budweiser Cup after eliminating their adversaries on Thursday.

Team SCS secured victory thanks to its early lead that left Drew’s IT&E Homeboyz in the dumps, 9-5.

At first it was a fairly even match as both teams split the opening Partners 8-Ball match, 1-1. But when it came down to the one-on-one action it was Team SCS that shined. Rowel Mariano, Aron Velasco and Ken Chen were unstoppable as they dropped every ball into the pockets with ease for a 3-1 run in the Singles 8-Ball match. Their lead continued to grow after two more consecutive wins in the second Partners 8-Ball match.

The IT&E Homeboyz finally got out of the gutter by splitting the next match and pulling a 3-1 run, but it was a little too late as there were not enough rounds left to make a comeback. The Homeboyz had to bow down to Team SCS, 5-9.

The MJD Warriors had a scare in their match against Brannon’s DECM Wizards but managed to steal the win away, 9-7. It was anyone’s game as neither team could not gain the edge, splitting the first four matches evenly. However, in the third Singles 8-Ball match the MJD Warriors suddenly found their footing and clipped a 3-1 run which was enough to secure the win, 9-7.

For their part, the 9Eleven Predators powered past 9Eleven Club 88, 9-3.
