Bridge Capital trounces Aqua Resort 118-86

THE Bridge Capital All-Stars earned their third win in the 2019 Marianas International Basketball League tournament at the expense of the Aqua Resort Club Ballers on Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.

Despite having five players only at the start of the game, the Ballers tried to keep up with the All-Stars. Deleon Guerrero led the opening quarter with his elusive fakes for eight points while Metran and Ferrer lent a helping hand for a combined 11 points.

But as the game progressed, fatigue started to show among the Ballers, allowing Bridge Capital to make a run. Cabaltica pulled up for a triple along with two more buckets from the perimeter while Camacho, Teregeyo and Duenas joined in to push their team to a double-digit lead 52-42.

A few more Aqua Resort players showed up to give their first stringers time to breathe, but the All-Stars just kept making their shots.

Pelisamen exploded in the third quarter with 16 points with the rest of the team chipping in for a 20-point deficit in favor of the All-Stars.

No matter what the Ballers threw at them, the All-Stars had an answer with Cabaltica lighting up the final quarter with nine points en route to a blowout victory, 118-86.

Caravan 87, AK Toyota 68

The Caravan Marauders remain in third-place overall after collecting their fourth win, this time over AK Toyota Wheelers, 87-68.

The Marauders established dominance early as Viray powered his team in the first quarter with 15 points to establish a 26-4 lead. But as soon as the Marauders lowered their guard, the Wheelers capitalized on their height to get back in the game.

Slowly but surely Toyota’s big men chipped their way back with Fitial using his strength to get points inside alongside De Guzman. They continued to punish Marauders from the inside with back-to-back buckets in the third canto.

Luckily for the Marauders, their big man Standish found his rhythm late in the final quarter with his hook-shots while Factor scored six points to secure the win for their team, 87-68.
