Star Water pummels Coca-Cola 101-57

IN Sunday’s JP World Corp. Customer Appreciation Basketball League game at the TSL Sports Complex, Star Water showed total control against Coca-Cola.

Star Water had a tough first quarter as Coca-Cola stayed close by, thanks to its players’ teamwork. JR Cabrera opened up the scoreboard for Coca-Cola by sinking a triple while Meljun Capalad followed through with two more buckets from beyond the arc. Star Water’s Khristian Itaas replied with three consecutive three-pointers of his own but Coca-Cola’s Bernard Estoque and Ramon San Nicolas chipped in two points apiece to cut Star Water’s lead to three.

In the second quarter, however, Coca-Cola started to show fatigue as its player could not stop Star Water from cooking up a run.

Big man Edwin Santos was unmatched under the rim as he powered his way inside with six straight points while Maverick Joyce and Renz Manaan delivered a total of 14 points to give their team a double-digit spread 49-36.

Coca-Cola continued to fight as Capalad remained consistent, but he could not get the help needed from the rest of his team which fell further behind in the second quarter.

With each Coca Cola miss Star Water capitalized on the other end with countless makes. Jay Mafnas caught on fire in the third canto leading the break with six points alongside Bobby Deleon as Star Water finished the final quarter with a 40-point blowout over Coca-Cola 101-57.

TanHoldings 1 83, Joeten 2 63

TanHoldings 1 remains one of the top teams after powering past Joeten 2 in the opening game of the night.

Thanks to TanHoldings 1’s dominant first quarter performance, it could afford to relax throughout the game. Elmer Esdrelon and Fradel Sedillo wreaked havoc using their speed to their advantage as they put up 11 and 10 points respectively to give their team the lead, 27-10.

The lead continued to grow as Esdrelon could not be stopped. But Joeten 2 finally broke out in the second quarter as Joemar Montoya, Ramon Agulto and Oracion stepped up. However, their efforts were in vain as they could not stop TanHoldings from draining the shots to end the game with an 83-63 victory
