Song topped the boys division and finished the race at 12 minutes and 36 seconds while Snyder finished first in the girls division at 15 minutes and 37 seconds.

Both athletes completed the three-lap, approximately 4.5-kilometer course.

Nick Gross, the tournament organizer, said a total of 310 children, including four from Tinian, joined this year’s championship.

Gross said he will continue to encourage students to be healthy through sports and by staying active.

“We are really excited to get some continuity with the [sports] program — that way everybody is in form and nobody’s left out. We want to make sure that every kid will have an opportunity to join this thing,” he added.

In the boys division, Agape Christian School’s Ivan Li finished the race at 13 minutes and 8 seconds and brought home the silver medal while his schoolmate Kobe Yang finished the race at 13 minutes and 9 seconds to win the bronze.

In the girls division, Saipan International School’s Tiana Cabrera finished the race at 16 minutes and 11 seconds to win silver while Agape’s Alice Yang came in third at 16 minutes and 46 seconds.
