A GOOD number of players and supporters turned up for the golf tournament hosted by the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library at the Coral Ocean Point Golf Club on Sept. 29.Library associate Erlinda Naputi said the tournament was sponsored by the Library Friends, volunteers who conduct regular book sales and other activities to raise funds to procure more library books and materials.
Tickets to the tournament were $75 each and Coral Ocean Point promised to donate $5 to the library for every ticket purchased. The proceeds from the golf tournament will be used by Library Friends to purchase more books for the library.
Joey Dela Cruz bagged the first prize and went home $300 richer. Ray Villagomez placed second and received $250 while Don Dunlop got $200 for finishing third.
Jack Salas won the $150 fourth prize which he donated to the library. Choi Yong Min, the fifth placer, received $100.
Joe Saures and Don Dunlop were the Pacific Insurance Closest to the Pin winners.
The tournament sponsors were Pacific Insurance, Tano Group, Mr. & Mrs. George & Janice Sablan, Coral Ocean Point, National Office Supply, Judge Perry Inos and Roland Merar for the cash donations.
For their in-kind donations, the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library thanks the following: All Star Sporting Goods, Ace Hardware, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Island Apparel, JCT Enterprises, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Kanoa Beach Club, Liberty Department Store, McDonald’s Saipan, Megabyte, Modern Stationery, Pacific Islands Club, Pacific Trading Co., Saipan Apparel, Tan Sui Ling Foundation, House Floor Leader George N. Camacho and U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan.
The library would also like to thank the volunteers: JJ Cabrera, Gerilyn C. Dela Cruz, John I. Deleon Guerrero, Martin Naputi, Maelyn Naputi, Swain Cangco, Vince Cepeda, Frances Pangelinan and the Maggie Naputi Band as well as golf tournament committee members Maureen Sebangiol, president of the Library Friends, Viola S.
