Softball tourney boosts morale of NMC employees

THE Alumni Classic Softball Tournament at Northern Marianas College concluded during the NMC Charter Day festivities last week.

“The purpose of the softball tournament was to help boost employee morale and camaraderie, and it was a success,” said Eileen Babauta, NMC program coordinator and organizer of the tournament.

“This is the second time we’ve had the tournament and I am very happy with the turnout of employees and students who participated in the games,” she told Variety.

According to Babauta, “It was a great opportunity to get folks out of their offices to enjoy some physical activity while at the same time engaging in friendly competition.”

There were five teams: Division of Finance and Administrative Services, the Student Support Services Team, the Associated Students of Northern Marianas College, Cooperative Research Education and Extension Services, and the Academic Programs and Services Division.

It was a two-week tournament that began earlier in April and the winners were:

1st place: CREES

2nd place: Student Support Services

3rd place: ASNMC

CREES was the defending champions.

The trophies were awarded during NMC’s Charter Day celebration.

Babauta thanked the NMC Alumni Association, the Natibu Sports Association, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, the NMC-External Relations Office and the NMC Charter Day Committee for their support and contributions in ensuring the success of the tournament.

NMC President Sharon Y. Hart also thanked organizers and participants of the tournament.

“I want to thank Eileen and her team for putting on yet another successful softball tournament,” she added.
