Blue Ayuyu returns home empty handed, players fall ill

THE Northern Mariana Islands Men’s National Team Blue Ayuyu finished their training matches empty-handed falling not only to bacterial infection but to all three opponents as well last weekend held at Philippines.

During the second match against N. Nine Football Club of Malaysia five of NMI’s players were placed in the Medical City Clark’s emergency room while another five to six players were still recovering from the bacteria they caught.

Despite their shortage of players, NMI continued to go on with the friendly match keeping their heads up high showing heart to look forward.

Unfortunately, the result of the match was not released.

As for their final game against Kaya Football Club, the match carried on despite players coming out of the emergency room closing the game with the loss 1-5.

NMI fought hard even with their players not at 100 percent.

Kaya FC quickly grabbed a hold of the lead squeezing in five goals throughout the three 30 minute halves. NMI shrugged off each score and continued to fight hard opening an opportunity to retaliate via penalty kick.

After gaining their first goal of the game, Kaya managed to hold off NMI for the remainder of the game secure the win 5-1.

Despite not being able to play at their full potential, the NMI MNT completed their training matches and are ready to make their way into the East Asian Football Federation Championship 2017 Round 1 event held at Guam starting this Thursday.
