Transgender muses highlight UFO basketball league

THE 2016 United Filipino Organization Master Mix Cup Basketball League opened on Sunday at the Ada Gym with a parade of teams and their transgender muses.

The teams are PC Bargain, Boy Garcia Team, Maplas, Ali-i Blue Haus, Armatech, Save More, 8th Division, Stephen Pawnshop and Blue Eagle, and their muses are Venus, Cecille, Bebs, Mengay, Chan, Ayien, Stephen and Christian.

Tanya was named the best muse while Ali-i Blue Haus won the best uniform award.

“The muses are all beautiful and gorgeous and the judges had a hard time picking a winner,” said event organizer Ernie Molina.

The judges were Philippine Honorary Consul to the CNMI Eli Arago, Philip Canuto of Island Touch by Philip and 2016 Miss Teen Pusong Pinoy Clarice Mhae T. Canarejo.

In his remarks, United Filipino Organization president Bong Malasarte emphasized the importance of friendship and camaraderie in sports activities.

He said the tournament has a noble intention because the winning team’s $1,000 prize will be donated to a non-profit organization.

The tournament is sponsored by IT&E, Island Touch by Philip and the Tan Siu Lin Foundation.

Among the guests were former Sen. Ray Yumul, businessman Jess Yumul, Press Secretary Ivan Blanco and basketball league commissioner Edward Manalili. The event master of ceremonies was UFO assistant secretary Marlon Regaton.

“It was a very successful program,” Molina said.

The first game was between Ali-i Blue Haus and 8th Division which was won by the former.

The games will be played every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Ada Gym.
