Oleai, Hopwood, Agape receive awards for most number of runners in Hafa Adai 5K run

OLEAI Elementary School, Hopwood Middle School and Agape Christian School last week received awards for most number of participants in the Hafa Adai 5k Fun Run in April.

Organized by Pacific Islands Club the annual event that drew 1,500 runners offers prizes for schools with the most participants in the elementary, middle school, and high school categories.

Each of the schools according to Sports & Events Manager Keoni DLG Ichihara got $500 gift certificates sponsored by Let’s Move for All Star Sporting Goods.

Oleai which led the elementary school category had 183 participants; Hopwood, in the middle school category brought 60 participants and Agape in high school category had 65 participants.

With all the participants splashed with different colors as they complete the five-kilometer run on Beach Road, the fun run started with less runners four years ago and had 1,200 last year.

The event benefitted the Marianas Tourism Education Council, “is about having people come out, exercise and have fun doing it.”
