NMI junior netters prevail in North Pacific Regional Championships

THE NMI junior players finished strong last week in the ITF Oceania Tennis Federation North Pacific Regional Championships 12’s Teams Event in Guam.

Anthony Gregoire and Daniel Kang edged Guam’s Jacob Jackson and Sachdev Aarman, 2-1 in the four-day event.

Kang avenged Gregoire’s 3-6, 2-6 loss to Jackson by outlasting Aarman, 2-6, 6-2, 10-2 in the singles matches.

The NMI junior tandem defeated Jackson and Aarman, 3-6, 7-5, 11-9, in the doubles.

Palau’s Kaekoa Mamis and Ton Perez humbled the NMI Boys 2 with a 2-1 lead as well.

Mamis and Perez beat Andrew Chung and Jiwoong Kwon, 6-2, 3-6, 5-10 in the doubles.

Kwon beat Perez, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 but Chung bowed to Mamis, 4-6, 2-6 in the singles matches.

The NMI Girls 1 ended up facing their compatriots in the finals after defeating Guam Girls on Thursday.

JC Ferrer took on Guam’s Jaylie Usita-Lee, 6-1, 6-0 and Hyejin Ellliot, on Sydney Packbier in separate singles matches.

Ferrer and Elliot defeated Packbier and Usita-Lee, 6-3, 7-6, in the doubles.

On Friday, Ferer and Elliot completed their pursuit for title over their fellow NMI netters, Helen Kim and Anika Camacho.

Ferrero survived Helen Kim, 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 while Elliot dominated Camacho, 6-1, 6-0 in the singles.

In the doubles matches, Ferrer and Elliot outlasted Camacho and Kim, 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.

The Guam Boys 2 also took on FSM Boys in the singles matches.

Guam’s Sachdej Arjan took on Aniken Young Perman, 6-4, 7-5 while Jackson Sonny dominated Apis Israel, 6-3, 6-2 in singles matches.

The Guam Boys 2 prevailed in the doubles with a 7-6, (6), 6-1 win over Israel and Perman.
