F. Marinos holds down Marianas Health Armada, 5-2

F. Marinos escaped loss in the U17 Girls division of the 2017 Youth Summer Futsal Tournament by holding down Marianas Health Armada, 5-2 during last Thursday’s game held at the Tan Siu Lin Sports Complex.

It was all in the feet of Guine Borja who scored all the five goals for their victory.

F. Marinos’ constant pressure kept them on the offensive end nearly the entire game.

With the help of Grace Choi and Ruschell Valino staying aggressive on both ends of the court, Guine Borja finished strong connecting two consecutive goals to take the lead 2-0.

Marianas Health Armada tried to get even with Jerlyn Castillo and Mariana Castro having a few close calls but could not get a good look due to F. Marinos’ efforts to disrupt their momentum keeping them silenced.

More of the same was seen throughout the second half.

F. Marinos kept the tempo high and continued to attack at will as Borja brought in three more goals to put the game out of reach 5-0.

But even with F. Marinos in control, Marianas Health Armada never put their fists down as they fought till the very end. Their efforts were awarded as Mariana Castro and Castillo squeezed one goal each before going down 5-2.

Saipan Elite joined the winners’ circle as they clipped a powerful 9-1 victory against HK SSS in the U16 Boys division.

Saipan Elite built an early lead thanks to their relentless attacks. Oliver Fajardo, Rohan Basnet and Merrick Toves ignited the first half sharing five goals together while holding down HK SSS scoreless.

Saipan Elite remained in control as they progressed through the second half as Jaydee Jose and Rintaro Miyawaki joined in contributing a goal each to extend the gap.

Although HK SSS finally broke the ice thanks to Joshua Daniel Moilig’s strong finish but Toves, Fajardo and Basnet’s consistency kept them afloat leading to the dominant victory 9-1.
