2 in a row for Green Minded, Tropang Ridhors get debut win

LIGHT Green Minded continues to climb in the 2nd Season Ali’i/BlueHaus Inter-color Basketball League as they gained their second straight win over the Silencers, 89-58 during last Wednesday’s game held at the Tan Siu Lin Sports Complex.

Green Minded set the tone right from using their speed to outhustle the Silencers.

Ivan De Vero ignited the momentum as he quickly found his stroke opening up with the first five points, one coming from beyond the arc. Edward Armia soon followed his rhythm draining two consecutive makes while De Vero continued to deliver leading the team with 14 points pushing a near double digit lead.

Silencer’s best bet to stay alive was Kelvin Fitial as he used his strength to power his way under the rim but the rest of the team failed to back him up keeping them behind.

With Silencer’s unable to knock down every single shot, Green Minded fed off each miss turning it into De Vero to finish unguarded on the other end to extend a 20-point lead.

Silencer’s best run came during the final quarter as they cut a near 50-point distance down to 30 points forcing Green Minded to call the timeout. It was Angel Perez and Mico Usi’s efforts on both ends of the court that shed some light for the team but Green Minded slowed down the pace using the time to their advantage to secure the win 89-58.

Tropang Ridhors joined the double digit victory celebration shutting Green Archers down 90-71.

Green Archers gave a good first quarter fight as Boyet Arreza and Frank Ferrer lit the scoreboard with back to back buckets. But Junar Guiab equalized their performance carrying Tropang Ridhors with 11 points alone to keep them afloat 25-21.

Even with Green Archers nearly putting Guiab out of action during the second quarter, the rest of the team had his back. Ken Viray and Mervin Sahagun stepped up showcasing their offensive output connecting shots from all around pushing the gap 49-33.

As soon as Tropang Ridhors seized the double digit lead, they never looked back. Green Archer’s Bart Demapan tried to take matters into his own hands staying reliable inside the paint but Tropang Ridhors had an answer for every bucket made to ease into the win 90-71.
