4 teams advance to semifinals in SBA Thursday Bud Cup

THE 9Eleven Jam Shooters, the Titans II, the ChowTime 8-Black Ball and the BlueHaus Homeboyz advanced to the semifinals of the 2017 SBA Open 8-Ball Thursday League Budweiser Cup taking out four other teams in the conclusion of last Thursday’s elimination round held at various locations.

The Jam Shooters had a smooth sail to victory as they left Sands Team SCS nearly scoreless 9-2.

The Jam Shooters found their shooting stroke right from the start as Marlon, Romel, Aljay and Nino claimed the opening Partners 8-Ball match without a struggle for the two-win sweep.

Team SCS’ Rowel was able to shed some light coming out victorious against Lito in the first round of the Singles 8-Ball match but his teammates could not follow through losing the next three rounds to keep the Jam Shooters in tight control 5-1.

Team SCS made an effort to stay in the fight splitting the next Partners 8-Ball match even but failed to hold on any longer as the Jam Shooters grabbed the remaining three wins needed to seize victory 9-2.

8-Black Ball had a tougher battle as they stood their ground to fend off Tasha’s Wild Bills 9-7.

It was anyone’s game as they lead was exchanged throughout the battle.

Earlier in the game, the Wild Bills took control with a clean 2-win sweep at the opening match.

But then was quickly turned around as 8-Black Ball struck back during the following Partners 8-Ball match with a sweep of their own to tie the game get back within a two-point reach 5-3.

8-Black Ball’s sudden rally seemed to have fired up their momentum as they continued to press forward with a 3-1 run of their own and stayed in rhythm with the same results at the third Singles 8-Ball match to steal the win 9-7.

The Titans II joined the winners’ circle with a similar victory over turning the tide late-game to stun the 9Eleven MJD Warriors 9-7 while the Homeboyz easily sent Tasha’s Extreme packing up, 9-2.
