Scheduled power interruption on Nov. 18

(CUC) — The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. would like to inform the general public that there will be a scheduled power interruption on Saturday, Nov.18, 2017, from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The purpose of the power interruption is to de-energize the primary lines to allow the CUC line crew to safely replace two wooden power poles with concrete poles along Beach Road in Garapan.   This is part of an ongoing FEMA hazard mitigation project that involves the replacement of 787 wooden poles with concrete poles.

A total of 478 wooden poles have been replaced with their corresponding concrete pole size. The remaining 309 are to be replaced with their corresponding concrete pole size.

Areas to be affected: Feeder 2 (2nd Partial):

Beach Road, Garapan (Fishing Base to Smiling Cove Marina) Dam Di Noche St., Mapola St., Kadena Di Amor St., McDonald’s/Mobil Gas Station, TSL Building, Joeten Hafa Adai Shopping Center, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Wild Bills, IHOP, Ajisen Ramen, Coconut St., Coffee Tree Mall, Ginger Ave., Coral Tree Ave., Date St., Paseo De Marianas, Palm St., and Plumeria Ave.

Water wells affected: None

Sewer lift station affected: S5

Traffic light affected: Intersection near Bank of Guam

Because of the scale of work that will be performed, we ask travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas.
