2018 Youth Conservation Corps internships available

(Press Release) — This summer, American Memorial Park will once again host the Youth Conservation Corps or YCC program and will be accepting applications through April 27, 2018 by close of business.

YCC is a well-balanced work-learn-earn program that develops an understanding and appreciation in participating youth of the nation’s environment and heritage. YCC participants will engage in a wide variety of conservation and park operations activities that will teach them about our national park and the National Park Service’s mission to protect special places for all.

The park will hire between two to six youth in the YCC program at the CNMI minimum wage. The program will run for up to eight weeks, from June 11 to August 4, with participants working up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Enrollees must be at least 15 years of age by June 11, 2018 and no older than 18 on August 4, 2018. To apply, applicants must fill out an application and if not 18 years of age, have a parent’s or guardian’s signature. Selected applicants will be contacted and program participants will be selected at random. Participation will be dependent on available funding.

Applications can be picked up Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. at the American Memorial Park Visitor Center. For directions to the Visitor Center contact Park Rangers at (670) 234-7207 ext. 2020. For questions about the YCC program, please contact Theo K. Chargualaf at (671) 477-7278, extension 1005 or email theo_chargualaf@nps.gov.
