(Press Release) — The 2019 CNMI Liberation Day Committee is encouraging interested government agencies, businesses, community organizations, and individuals to be a part of the 2019 CNMI Liberation Day Parade and Festivities through its always exciting Float Competition or as a carnival vendor for the thousands that attend the island’s marquee event.

“We invite our businesses, community leaders, and government departments to come and be a part of our Liberation Day Parade through either our Float Competition to compete for prizes or to be a food, drink, or arts and crafts vendor at our signature carnival event,” said Liberation Day Chairman Joe Ayuyu Jr.

Prizes for the 2019 Liberation Day Float Competition is currently set at $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place, $1,000 for third place, and $500 for fourth place.

“We have exciting activities lined up for our Liberation Festivities in July, and we want to continue putting on a great event for our community especially as we continue our recovery and weather through these challenging times,” said Liberation Day Vice Chairman Shayne Villanueva.

Applications for both the parade and concessions are now available at the Saipan Mayor’s Office on the ground floor of the CTC Building in Oleai and online at

The deadline to submit applications for the parade/float participation is 4:30 p.m., June 20, 2019 at the Saipan Mayor’s Office. Applications for concessions are currently being accepted now, but interested vendors are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible to ensure their spots on the carnival grounds.

“This truly is an event to bring the entire community together, so we encourage our businesses to participate as a vendor or to compete in our exciting Float Competition. We invite everyone to join us from June 27 to July 6, 2019 at the Garapan Fishing Base for our Liberation Day Festivities as we celebrate our freedom,” said Mayor David M. Apatang.
