At around 6:10 a.m., officers arrived and noticed a shattered glass door while they were walking toward the main office entrance. At the scene officers met with an individual who is employed at the elementary school. The individual led officers to an unsecured rear entrance door into the main office and explained that the rear door was always locked and secured.

Officers continued to make their way throughout the building, where they noticed left over snack wrappers, scattered throughout a connecting room. The individual also states that a container of miscellaneous coins had been taken from a desk drawer in that room.

The officers continued making observations throughout the building, and were led into the principal’s office where the officers noticed several candy wrappers scattered throughout the room. In the next room, the individual showed officers several items that were out of place including a set of lost and found keys, and a box containing files.

Detectives were recently given access to view the exterior surveillance footage of the time the incident took place. Detectives observed an unknown individual walking around the school premises with a black hooded sweater. The individual appears to have forced his way into one of the school’s doors.

This case remains ongoing. If you have any information on the identification of the burglar, call 911. If you wish to remain anonymous call the CNMI Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272.
