Hit-and-run incident in Garapan

(DPS) — On Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, at about 6:38 p.m., the Department of Public Safety received a 911 call reporting a possible hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian in Garapan. Officers were dispatched to the scene.

At the scene, officers met with the caller who stated that the she and her husband were about to cross the street after the pedestrian sign light up stating that it was safe to cross. Before the couple crossed, they took a second look at the street light making sure that it was red, and safe to cross. As the couple began to walk toward the DFS Galleria, an older model beige Toyota Camry ran the red light and drove near the victim, running over her left foot.

The victim fell and was picked up by her husband, the two walked over to a nearby business establishment to call 911. The victim refused to be taken to the hospital, and the couple left the scene shortly after.

The couple along with witnesses at the scene were unable to remember the license plate number of the hit-and-run vehicle.
