Home appliances distributors, retailers and vendors urged to participate in energy rebate program

(Office of the Governor) — The CNMI Division of Energy is hereby inviting all interested home appliance distributors, retailers and vendors to register to participate in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands State Energy Program – Energy-efficient/Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program or CNMI-SEP-EE/ESARP as a qualified participating vendor or retailer partner of energy-efficient or Energy Star-rated appliances to encourage energy-efficiency and to promote the importance of energy conservation in the CNMI.

To participate and qualify as a registered participating distributor, retailer or vendor in the Program, interested parties must meet the following minimum requirements and perform the services, as stated below:

  • • Must have the ability to supply, deliver, and install, new Energy-Efficient/Energy Star rated qualified clothes washers, refrigerators, or room air conditioners. For more information on products that bear the Energy Star logo and listed on the Energy Star qualified products, please visit the website at

In addition, the SEP-EE/ESARP will also qualify, under USEPA standards, non-Energy Star rated split-type room air-conditioning units with Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio or SEER of 18.0 or higher.

  • • Must be able to provide the following required services: 100 percent delivery and installation of new energy-efficient appliances, 100 percent haul-away of old appliances, 100 percent, re-capturing of refrigerants, 100 percent decommissioning, disposal, and recycling of old and used appliances replaced by the program.
  • • Must comply with all federal and CNMI laws and regulations relating to the proper recapturing, storage and disposal of all recovered refrigerants, oils, etc.
  • • Must agree to adhere to any and all additional requirements of the program.

and must also include a statement, on official company letterhead, certifying that minimum requirements are met and that the above services could be performed.

Letters shall be submitted to, and received by the CNMI Energy Division Office, located at House No. 1337, Ascencion Dr., Capital Hill, Saipan, MP 96950, no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019.
