(Press Release) — This month, students in the 3rd to 5th grades are invited to join American Memorial Park for a two-day, Reading Ranger program on March 23-24, 2017 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Rangers at American Memorial Park will be reading “Sadako” and the “Thousand Paper Cranes” by Eleanor Coerr. This book tells the story of a girl from Hiroshima who becomes sick with leukemia in the years after the atom bomb was dropped and her race to fold 1,000 paper cranes.
After reading the book, participants will engage in fun learning activities and learn about the story’s connections to the CNMI and the park. Students will also help to fold 1,000 paper cranes that will be sent to the Children’s Peace Memorial in Hiroshima Japan, in recognition of World Peace Day.
