Remengesau visits Hatohobei, Sonsorol

President Remengesau and 30 others visited the Southwest Island in cooperation with the Korean ship M/V Hannah.
The five-day visit gave the president the opportunity to interact with the residents of Sonsorol and Hatohobei.
The president said with the M/V Hannah in Palau, the Office of the President, representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Trade, Ministry of Resources and Development , Koror State Government and the Ministry of Justice.
Presidential Chief of Staff Billy G. Kuartei said the trip also coincided with opening of the Hatohobei dispensary.
Joining the ribbon cutting ceremony were the Ministry of Health and Civic Action Team 08-04 clinician Capt. David Carnes.
During the opening Hatohobei Gov. Crispin Emilio thanked the President for honoring his promise to return to the state and for the help in seeing the completion of the dispensary project.
The officials who visited the two states also made donations of food items.
The M/V Hannah is a Korean mission ship and is medically equipped and it has doctors and nurses aboard too, helping the government in seeing patients during the visit.
The president said M/V Hannah was very helpful in getting them to Hatohobei and Sonsorol.
He said during his weekly conference that those two states are the most pristine and most preserved island in the country, tourism access can be difficult.
The president said that a runway project is being considered to make the two areas accessible to tourism.
The president and his group left Koror on Nov. 1 to the Southwest Islands and returned Nov. 5.
