Feed Saipan Thursday’

SAIPAN Mayor Juan B. Tudela will sign a proclamation on Thursday, Nov. 15, to designate the day as “Feed Saipan Thursday.”
During this time of year, Tudela solicits food and clothing donations that will be turned over to Karidat Social Services for the homeless, the hungry and the needy.
Powdered and liquid milk donations are highly appreciated.
Tudela also encourages Saipan residents to fast for two-full meals on this day. The money set aside to buy for one meal can be donated to Karidat to assist needy residents.
All food and clothing donations can be delivered to the Saipan Mayor’s Office below the Department of Labor before Nov. 15.
The proclamation signing ceremony will start at 10 a.m. at the mayor’s office.

Salvation Army announces holiday activities

THE Salvation Army will begin putting out counter kettles and food donation boxes at various Saipan supermarkets on Nov. 16.
Shoppers are encouraged to drop loose change into the counter kettles and donate non-perishable into the food donation boxes inside the stores.
The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to assist with its annual Christmas Kettle program, which will begin on Nov. 23.
Volunteers usually take two-hour slots, during which they accept donations with the trademark Salvation Army bell and red kettle.
This traditional holiday fundraiser will help supply food and toys to underprivileged families on Saipan.
