NO ONE was injured
in a generator fire yesterday morning at the Hagatna Payless along Route
4, according to Guam Fire Department spokesperson Angel Llagas.
The fire was reported to Emergency 911 as a structure fire
at 8:20 a.m.
The location of the reported structure fire was in the vicinity
of Route 4 and the Payless Corporate office in Hagatna, said Llagas.
The GFD units that responded to the structure fire were Engines
1 and 2, Scouts 2 and 3, Rescue 1 and 2, Medic 3, and Advanced Life Support
2.
However, ALS 2 arrived at 8:25 a.m. and found that the fire was confined
to a generator room. It reclassified the fire to a generator fire
and cancelled assisting units en route, according to Llagas.
At 8:25 a.m., ALS 2 had secured the generator fire with a portable
fire extinguisher. At 8:27 a.m., Engine 1 arrived on scene and the fire
was confined to the generator room area, added Llagas.
The cause of the fire was not known as of press time. It was not known
if there would be an investigation launched. (
