Man threatens to electrocute self, is arrested

E-mail Print

A 29-year-old man  threatened to electrocute himself by touching the power drop line at their residence in Chalan Kanoa on Saturday morning.

Prior to this incident, George Taitano Manglona and his girlfriend were being  interviewed by Officer Rudolpho Hermisilla, who learned that the defendant decided to break up with his girlfriend a day earlier.
Since then, they had been arguing and a witness told police that Manglona beat up his girlfriend.
Detective Simon Manacop said Manglona was later observed on the rooftop of the residence.
As responding police officer climbed to the roof to arrest Manglona, who was then seen placing both his hands on the power drop line.
“Manglona was asked to step down from the rooftop but he threatened that if anyone came close to him he would kill himself by holding on the drop line to get electrocuted,” Manacop told the court.
Minutes later, Manglona’s father arrived at the scene and approached his son on the roof top.
“[The father] was able to persuade Manglona to get down from the roof top,” Manacop said.
Manglona was then arrested and transported to the Department of Corrections.
Yesterday, Associate Judge David Wiseman granted Manglona’s bail modification.
Manglona was ordered to post $150 bail, or 10 percent of $1,500. The remaining $3,500 will be issued as unsecured or appearance bond.
Assistant Attorney General Rosemond Santos is prosecuting the case, while Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke represents Manglona.

+1 #5 captain 2010-02-10 03:18 That is all show, he better learn first about electric power, if installed correctly there is no bare wires exsposed. Take a knife next time and scrape some insulation off then grab the ground, make sure that you grab both wires from each hand so the current will pass over your heart. But you will probably survive anyway, it might wake you up though.
