Kiribati has 93 workers in Australia’s Pacific Labor Scheme

TARAWA (Radio Kiribati/Pacnews) — Kiribati has the second largest number of workers in Australia under the Pacific Labor Scheme.

A report from the Australian High Commission in Tarawa says of more than 500 Pacific Islanders and Timor-Leste workers now in Australia, the majority are from Fiji which has 116 workers.

Workers from Kiribati total 93, closely followed by Samoa with 92 workers.

Other Pacific countries include Vanuatu with 84 workers, Solomon Islands 52, Tonga 39, Tuvalu 32, Timor Leste, 25 and Papua New Guinea 6.

The scheme first started in July 2018.
