Yap hosts Council of Tamol meeting

COLONIA, Yap (Yap State Government) — The Outer Islands Council of Chiefs known as the Council of Tamol has convened its first biannual meeting in Yap on Monday.

A number of government representatives were on hand to assist with the official opening ceremony which took place at the office in the Government Housing area in Dinay, Rull municipality.

The government representatives who attended the official opening of the council meeting included  Department of Youth and Civic Affairs Director Ruotpong Pongliyab, who represented Governor Sebastian Anefal, Chiefs Petrus Beyan and Francis Fithingmow from the Council of Pilung, Vice Speaker Ted Rutun and Chairman Jesse Raglmar-Subolmar from the 8th State Legislature and Chief Justice Cyprian Manmaw of the Yap State Court.

During the opening ceremony, the chairman of the council, Paramount Chief Ignathio Hapthey, took the time to thank all the government representatives for taking the time off from their busy schedule in order to attend the opening of the council’s biannual meeting and informed them that the council is ready to transact business.

He also thanked the members of the council for availing their time so that they would be able to discuss the issues on their agenda.

The government representatives  shared the same sentiments in their remarks to the Council of Tamol, by saying that the government will be ready any time the chiefs would need the assistance of the government.

They also expressed hope that the council will be successful in this very important undertaking.

Members of the Council of Tamol took a break following the remarks made by some of the state government officials who attended the opening ceremony and they returned at 2 p.m. to discuss several in-house issues before the council entertained its full agenda.
