New Taiwan envoy to present credentials

THE new Taiwan Ambassador to Palau will present her credentials on Wednesday to President Remengesau.

In a statement from the Taiwan embassy, Ambassador Maggie Tai-ching Tien , is said to be one of the most outstanding female diplomats.

Tien will arrive early morning of August 13 in Palau.

On her arrival, Tien will first be received at the airport by high officials of the Republic, Taiwan diplomatic mission and the delegates of Taiwanese Association, and then accompanied by senior officers Taiwan diplomatic mission.

Tien will formally present her credentials at 11 a.m. at the Capitol.

The Taiwan embassy statement said that in her formal citation, Tien on behalf of the people of Palau and Taiwan, “ will express Taiwan’s readiness to closely work and cooperate with Palau for her development and continued prosperity.”

Tien will also pay courtesy calls to Vice President Elias Camsek Chin, Council of Chiefs, all Ministers, Senators, and Delegates of OEK.

Tien will also convene a series of interior meetings with the Taiwan diplomatic mission, technical mission, mobile medical mission and “E-government task force” in order to “infuse a new flow of momentum into the existed cooperative relationship between Taiwan and Palau.”

Prior to serving Palau’s post, Tien served as the Deputy Director General of the Department of North American Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Sydney Australua and Atlanta, United States.
