Associated Students of Northern Marianas College

ASNMC is the student organization of the college. It is the voice of the students and its job is to ensure that their views are heard and considered when decisions are being made about NMC. ASNMC also holds most of the student events on campus.

On Oct. 30-31, ASNMC held its first event of the school-year, a Halloween photo shoot. Students had their pictures taken and copies were printed out for them. The event was a huge success, according to Salvi Villanueva, the vice president of ASNMC. “It was great to hear positive feedback from the students and we can’t wait to run our next event.”

Villanueva describes the current ASNMC team as “a well-rounded group with a specific set of skills that will benefit the college and the general student body.”

“Everyone is always in it for the benefit of the college,” Villanueva added.

During the past few weeks, the ASNMC officers distributed survey forms to students to learn what activities or events they would like to see happen at the college. There were also suggestion boxes installed at different sites on campus to give students the opportunity to share their ideas. The ASNMC officers have collected the survey former and are going to discuss them today during their weekly meeting which is open to the students of the college.

Some of the activities that are being considered are a Silp N’ Slide event, a music/art competition, and a possible Color Run.

“We’re just brushing the surface,” says Villanueva. “I believe that we can tap into even greater things once everyone starts participating and getting into the school spirit even more! It’s all about student morale and just having fun!”
