MVA joins Taipei International Travel Fair 2017

(MVA) — The Marianas Visitors Authority joined one of the biggest annual travel industry events in the Asia-Pacific region, the 2017 Taipei International Travel Fair or ITF on Oct. 27-30, 2017.

This year the fair received 366,976 visitors, a 1.63 percent increase over last year’s fair. The event attracted 950 exhibitors, including MVA, with 1,650 booths from 68 countries. The pre-fair press conference on Oct. 26 also attracted 200 members of the local and international press community.

On Taipei ITF opening day, MVA launched its online campaign “2018 Intern to the Marianas,” also called “The Best Internship in the World” and considered the most popular campaign among tourism boards in Taiwan.   Former intern Sunny Lin and her dance troupe performed an island-style dance. Throughout the fair, MVA booth was visited by members of the general public and key travel partners, including Taiwan Visitor Association Chairwoman Yeh Chu-Lan, Hong Kong Airlines General Manager Oliver Li, Asiana Airlines’ country manager, and more.

MVA Managing Director Christopher A. Concepcion also named Taiwanese underwater photographer, diving instructor, and travel journalist Yorko Summer as Marianas Ocean Tourism Ambassador.

“Yorko will help promote the Marianas’ world-class marine and tourism resources to audiences in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China,” said Concepcion. “We have already conducted some stunning outdoor advertising with Yorko in the high traffic Taipei 101 Station next to the ITF exhibition halls. This is a prime location that receives approximately 1.8 million visitors per month.”

A live radio broadcast interview with Concepcion on Oct. 27 with ICRT, Taiwan’s first English radio station, emphasized the Marianas as a top island travel destination.   Other media exposure included a cover story in Travel Trend News Magazine and another article in Travel Rich Magazine. The Marianas received 18 mentions in media clips as a result of its participation in the fair.
