Samsung card movie trip highlights

(MVA) — To position the Marianas as an exciting and fun leisure travel destination for the younger generation, the Marianas Visitors Authority held a movie trip co-op promotion with Samsung Card Young Lab on March 9-13, 2018, introducing Saipan Marathon 2018 and the natural beauty of the Marianas.

Samsung Card Young Lab, Samsung Card’s CSR program targeting young people in their 20-30s, recruited seven teams (21 persons in total) of young videographers in various travel categories to create their own video content while experiencing the Saipan Marathon and traveling to Saipan, Tinian and Rota.

The participants  applied  their own editorial style to produce film footage of people enjoying the fun of Saipan Marathon. Some wore superhero suits like Ironman and Captain America from Marvel Comics.   Others wore Korean traditional women scuba-diving suits or flower-patterned dresses implying natural beauty of the Marianas.  Participants also experienced stargazing at Banzai Cliff and sampling Saipan Brewing Company’s local beer at Naked Fish Bar and Grill.

After the marathon, the visitors were divided into two groups, one visiting Rota and another visiting Tinian. Four teams who travelled to Tinian had an ATV tour and snorkeled at Long Beach while filming photogenic spots including Broadway, Tinian Blow Hole, and Turtle Cove. They especially loved the sunset beach barbeque at Tachogna, right in front of Tinian Ocean View Hotel where they stayed.

The other three teams who wanted to film underwater scenes spent three days in Rota. Staying at Rota Resort and Country Club, they had an opportunity to experience snorkeling at Coral Garden, trolling fishing in Sasanhaya Bay, and enjoying a local style barbeque dinner and bonfire at the resort.

“Throughout this campaign, both Samsung Card Young lab and our MVA media exposure in Korea reached 1.5 million people through Facebook, website, eDMs and application advertisements,” said MVA marketing manager Broc Calvo.  “And now, the resulting footage by seven teams will be voted on by 380,000 followers via Samsung Card Young Lab’s Facebook page. This is generating powerful engagement by online consumers who are interested in travel and leisure, and we look forward to awarding the winners on April 27.”

The tour was also supported by Naked Fish Bar & Grill, Tinian Ocean View Hotel, and Tinian Good Tour.
