MVA joins Micronesian Pavilion at Taipei Tourism Expo 2018

(MVA) — The Marianas Visitors Authority jointly hosted the first ever Micronesian Pavilion at Taipei Tourism Expo 2018 on May 4-7, 2018.

This year the expo received 300,000 visitors, a 12 percent increase over last year.  The event attracted 350 exhibitors, including the MVA, Guam Visitors Bureau, and Palau Visitors Authority.

A raffle prize of a four-night, five-day Marianas Package was awarded  announced at the pre-fair press conference on April 25, which generated an estimated media value of $27,000.   In addition, an advertorial was places in Travel Trends News magazine, with an additional 50,000 copies distributed at The Marianas booth

“While MVA has participated in TTE for a number of years now, this was the first year we partnered with other tourism offices to promote Micronesia as a region,” said MVA Deputy Managing Director Judy Torres, who attended the event.  “It was an opportunity to add to our promotions of The Marianas by uniting with our colleagues from throughout the region, including sharing information about the Federated States of Micronesia and Marshall Islands, who are our MVA partners under the Pacific Asia Travel Association Micronesia chapter.”

A VIP premiere event was held on May 3 at Westin Taipei Hotel to introduce the diving video filmed in the Marians earlier this year by Taiwanese underwater photographer, diving instructor,  and  travel  journalist  Yorko  Summer,  the  Marianas  ocean  tourism ambassador. Attendees included travel trade media and partners, airline partners, and Summer’s fans. Following the premiere, attendees had the opportunity to same the signature Marianas cocktail “Saipan Ocean Blue” created by owner and chief bartender Alan Chen of popular restaurant Fourplay. The Micronesia Pavilion also hosted a media roundtable on May 7 with key travel media, including Travel Rich Magazine, Travel Trends News, and  Xin  Media   Global Vision.

The Micronesian pavilion drew attention with its Palauan dances and performances singing legends Jesse & Ruby from Guam.  The Micronesia Pavilion generated an estimated $54,000 in media coverage for the region.
