Groups sign on for International Festival of Cultures

(MVA) — Six cultural groups have signed on and the list continues to grow for the 5th Annual International Festival of Cultures to be held on Sept. 20-21,2019, in celebration of the cultural diversity of the Marianas.

Returning to this year’s celebration are the communities of Korea, Japan, Tonga/Fiji/Samoa, Federated State of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, and Bangladesh.

“The CNMI is full of diversity, and this is the time where everyone can come together to learn and celebrate one another’s culture,” said lead event coordinator and Marianas Visitors Authority community projects coordinator Jack Aranda. “Every cultural group is welcomed to join, and we invite you to contact our office for more information.

The festival returns to Paseo de Marianas in the main tourist district on Saipan. A soft opening will be held on Sept. 20 from 5 to 10 p.m. with an ethnic parade, food sales, and demonstration and sales of arts and crafts. On Sept. 21 from 5-10 p.m., the festival will also feature live ethnic performances on-stage.
