Students urged to develop interest in tourism industry

E-mail Print

HOSPITALITY and tourism is one area among the vocational education clusters that need to be promoted among students.

This, according to members of the Rotary Club of Saipan, is important because  tourism is the backbone of the local economy.
They said students should be encouraged to take an active part in tourism and hospitality courses because they can do a lot to help develop the island economy.
“Tourism and hospitality should be on the priority list of interests for our students,” former Saipan Rotary Club president Vicente Babauta said.
Hospitality and Tourism is among the career clusters offered by the Public Schools System.
An assessment has shown that CNMI students were interested in the career clusters of health science, finance, and agriculture, food and natural resources.
