What flower say about you

VALENTINE’S Day is approaching — do you know what to give to your special someone?
You can never go wrong with flowers, of  course.

But do you know what the perfect flower is for your loved one?
Albert Guevara of Judy’s flower shop said the color of a flower signifies something.
“A flower’s color can be associated with the reason why a person is giving it to his loved one,” he said.
For example, a yellow flower symbolizes friendship, beauty and joy.
This type of flower is usually given to friends.
White symbolizes purity, cleanliness and innocence.
Guevara said most of his clients request white flowers for their mothers.
White and yellow flowers should be given during Mother’s Day though.
On Valentine’s Day, those who want to express their feelings to their loved ones should give  red flowers.
“Dark red or blood red means there is a strong feeling of love,” he said. “A secondary option would be pink roses, which also symbolize love.”

What flowers say

The type of flowers also symbolize something.
Besides roses, Guevera said orchids and tulips are also ideal for Valentine’s Day.
Carnation, which is pink, signifies gratitude; red-flashy striped means refusal; white suggests remembrance; and yellow indicates cheerfulness.
Lavender denotes distrust.
Lilac conveys first love.
Casablanca is for celebration.
Orchid expresses delicate beauty.
But no matter what kind of flower you give, it’s the thought that counts, Guevara said.
What is more important is the sincerity of the giver, he added.
