AHEAD of 4/20, budtenders Courtney Nakazato and Mikel Johnson spoke to Variety about the top four strains available at The Hook Up that customers
can enjoy as they celebrate cannabis’ unofficial holiday.
Nakazato and Johson spoke to Variety on April 18, highlighting Super Secret, Hawaiian Rain, Caribbean Breeze, and Montana Frost.
All four strains are top shelf products at The Hook Up, who divide their many cannabis strains into low, mid, and top shelf price categories.
Johnson says he is partial to Hawaiian Rain and Caribbean Breeze.
“For Hawaiian Rain, the bud is just a nice dark purple. When you look at the bud it’s really colorful,” he says. “The high is not all the
way out there, but it hits you to the point you feel relaxed and no stress.”
As for Caribbean Breeze, Johnson says it makes him feel energetic.
“It’s a sativa,” he says. The high makes you want to dance.”
For Nakazato, he says that Super Secret holds a special place in his heart.
“It has gassy and earthy tones,” he says. “It’s a body high that you’re looking for. It’s a hybrid so you get the best of both words. You
get the sativa high in the beginning and then you feel the creeper in the Indica.”
Johnson chimes in to add that Super Secret might have you “glued to the couch.”
As for Montana Frost, Nakazato says the flower is a sativa dominant hybrid, that tastes “skunky” and “pine-y.”
At The HookUp, Nakazato displayed Montana Frost “moonrocks,” which is the bud dipped in rosin and covered in kief.
“Moonrock will get you to the moon, probably,” Nakazato said, with a laugh.
Nakazato says that the offerings at The Hook Up are unique on Saipan.
“Our strains here are mostly found only with us,” he says. “We don’t really try to match the other dispensaries. We have our own unique strains.”
The pair confirm that they keep the most popular strains out on the store shelf often, but rotate other strains so their customers have variety.
“We always want them to come back,” Nakazato said. “It’s important for us to give back to the people.”
On 4/20 all top shelf flowers, moonrock, and hash will be on 20% off promotion.
One gram prerolled crumble will be $4.
Prerolls infused with dab and hash will be $10.
Elevated Minds farm products will also be available and prices start at $15 for two prerolls.
Merchandise is also on promotion, ranging from 20-25% off on select items.
Nakazato also says that The HookUp will also be conducting special giveaways for the first 120 customers.
The HookUp is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
