Governor nominates Proserpina Magofna to election commission

GOVERNOR Ralph DLG Torres on Thursday nominated former Society for Human Resource Management-NMI president Proserpina T. Magofna to serve as member of the Commonwealth Election Commission.

In his appointment letter to Magofna, the governor said: “I am pleased to nominate you to serve as a member of the Commonwealth Election Commission representing the Third Senatorial District” which is Saipan and the Northern Islands.

The appointment requires the advice and consent of the Senate. If confirmed, Magofna will serve a four-year term that will expire on July 21, 2025.

She is required to file a statement of financial interest with the Office of the Public Auditor, and submit a copy of her résumé, police clearance, drug test receipt and drug test result.

The governor told Magofna that he and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios “are confident that you are qualified and you will devote your time and efforts to represent the interest of our community on this important board.”

Magofna currently works for Crowne Plaza, the former Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.
