(SCC) — The Saipan Chamber of Commerce is proud to share that the first batch of Career Pathways Internship Program interns will be completing their three-month commitment this coming July 21, 2025.
The program commenced on April 21, 2025. While school was ongoing, these students took the opportunity to begin this new venture in an unfamiliar environment.
“The Career Pathways Internship Program was created to give our youth meaningful opportunities to explore their passions, gain real-world experience, and see what’s possible for their future. It’s our way of investing in the next generation of leaders by connecting them with guidance, exposure, and encouragement they may not otherwise receive,” said Chamber Executive Director Kimberly Camacho.
“With our mission slogan being ‘Building local workforce capacity, one student at a time,’ we are excited for these interns to be one step closer to their career goals through the meaningful three months they’ve spent with their matched worksites.”
Twenty-nine student interns out of the total 37 in Cohort 1 will be completing their internships: 9 from Saipan, 8 from Tinian, and 12 from Rota.
The 20 students from Tinian and Rota were able to participate in the program alongside the NMTech summer program they are also completing. Within Cohort 1 there are still additional interns continuing their commitment for six and eleven months.
The Cohort 1 students completing their commitment were placed with our industry partners: Northern Marianas Technical Institute, Marianas Pacific Distributors Inc., American Memorial Park, Saipan Humane Society, the Public School System, and the Saipan Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber is beyond thankful to its industry partners for believing in its mission and taking time out of their regular schedules to mentor, guide, and help future workforce leaders grow with their teams.
The conclusion of the first batch of Cohort 1 interns marks just the beginning for the program.
In total, the Chamber currently has 99 interns participating. The Cohort 2 interns, who began their internships on June 16, are serving varied commitments of three, six, and nine months. July 16 marked their first month in the program.
“We were able to visit some of these interns at their worksites and saw their enthusiasm and passion for gaining hands-on experience. Their site supervisors have also expressed their excitement and gratitude for having interns as part of their teams,” the Chamber said.
“We would like to sincerely thank all our industry partners, for both Cohorts, you make this program possible: 500 Sails, American Memorial Park, AP Group LLC, Bank of Saipan, CNMI Department of Commerce, CNMI Department of Labor, CNMI Scholarship Office, Coca-Cola Beverage Co (Micronesia) Inc., Commonwealth Communication, Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan, Department of Lands and Natural Resources (Rota), Department of Finance, Department of Labor-WIA, Icekiss Inc. dba Foremost Foods Saipan, Insurance & Business Management Corporation, IT&E, Marianas Pacific Distributors Inc., Northern Marianas Technical Institute, Niaos Poke Deli, LLC, Pacifica Insurance, Paradise Dental, Paradise Lyric House LLC, PHI Pharmacy, Saipan Humane Society, Transpacific Int’l Inc., and Tupu Cane Juice.
